Next Tuesday, 11th June, around 400 lucky crews will embark on one of the highlights of the collector’s car year – the 2024 running of the Mille Miglia retrospective. Massively over-subscribed as always, the chosen cars will set off from Brescia at lunchtime on Tuesday and hopefully return next Saturday following a successful tour around the North of Italy.

The first day takes the competitors to Turin before heading South, via Genoa, to Viareggio on Wednesday. Thursday sees the cars arrive in Rome then travel to Bologna on Friday, crossing the Futa and Raticosa passes en route. The final leg brings them past Lake Garda and back to Brescia for the traditional parade along the Viale Venezia.

The big question must be – can anyone break a decade of dominance for Alfa Romeo in the final results? 6C 1750’s have ruled the roost in the top placings for many years now. Is there a car and driver combination that can challenge them? It would surely take something special to break their strangle hold given the car’s ideal mix of performance plus a favourable co-efficient multiplier.
